On behalf of House of Prayer Edmonton we invite you and your congregation to participate in an extended gathering of prayer for Canada. We know that a fall federal election is coming and as the political parties are preparing, so too should the church prepare to stand in prayer for our nation at this important time. The Assembly is six days of non-stop, 24/7 prayer on October 7‑12, 2019.
- To foster an expression of unity in the body of Christ in the capital region (John 17:21)
- To see God’s kingdom come in Canada through sustained, corporate intercession (Luke 18:7, Joel 2:15–16)
We are using Psalm 72:8, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea…” as the overarching theme. This verse, inscribed in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill, was part of the inspiration of calling Canada the ‘Dominion of Canada’ and the inspiration behind ‘A Mari usque ad Mare’ the motto on our coat of Arms, Latin for “from sea to sea.” The focus of The Assembly is for Jesus to have His inheritance in Canada and that He would have dominion from sea to sea.
The Assembly is six days of continual day and night prayer from Monday October 7th to Saturday October 12th. It will take place at Victory Church on the Rock (10445 172 Street). They have graciously opened their facility for this event. Their sanctuary will be converted into a prayer room with numerous resources available to help people engage in prayer. The 128 hours will be split into 64 two-hour blocks with different churches or individuals taking charge of each block of time. Leading up to the 2015 federal election The Assembly had over 40 different churches participate.
You are welcome to come at any time and join with whichever church is leading then. Each church will be praying in their style that you may or may not be familiar with, embrace the differences and learn to pray together. Jesus finds all of our prayer beautiful to Him and they all move His heart. (We do uphold the Nicene Creed as our unifying belief though)
